The most common cause of an issue like this has to do with a setting on the AppleTV. To change this setting:
- While on the AppleTV home screen navigate to 'Settings'
- 2. Select 'Airplay'
- 3. Locate the 'Access Control' section at the bottom and select 'Security'
- 4. Select 'First-Time Pass code'
- 5. Exit the settings
