We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing audio issues. Popeye's spinach power just ain't the same without the tune to play along. The steps below will usually resolve them most of the time. Give Boomerang another try after each step, and if you run into the same problem simply proceed to the next step.
Please be aware, due to the many different Android devices and OS versions, some of these steps might not sync up perfectly with what you're seeing on your device. If you are unable to proceed with any step, please contact us directly, and we'll be happy to help you complete the section.
Check your media volume levels while watching a video
- Launch the Boomerang app, and select any video
- After the video begins to play, locate and repeatedly press the volume UP button to control/view your media volume levels
- Check to make sure you're able to reach a high volume level. Can you hear audio?
- If not, let's check some other videos to see if the issue occurs there
Check other videos
- Launch the Boomerang app, and select a couple different videos
- After the video begins to play, locate and repeatedly press the volume UP button to view media volume
- If you can hear audio while viewing other videos, there may be a problem with a specific video
- Please let us know which episode or movie you're experiencing issues with
Close the app, and clear the cache:
If videos still won't play, let's try clearing the Boomerang cache.
- Navigate to 'Settings' on your Android device, the icon usually looks like a gear
- Locate and select 'Apps' or 'App Manager'
- You may see 'App Manager' after selecting 'Apps'
- Find 'Boomerang' in the apps list
- Tap 'Force Stop'
- You may receive a pop-up asking you to confirm
- Navigate to 'Storage'
- Tap 'Clear Data', and 'Clear Cache'
- Open the Boomerang App, you'll need to log in again
Power cycle your device:
If you continue to experience issues with the Boomerang app, try restarting your device.
- Locate the power button, generally placed on the side, or top of your device, and hold it down until you're presented with options to 'Power off', or 'Restart your device'; select 'Power off', and wait about 30 seconds
- Press and hold the power button until the device begins to turn on, you may release the power button once your device begins to power up
- Reopen the Boomerang app, you may be prompted to log in again
- Try to watch an episode or movie
Reinstalling the Boomerang App:
If you continue to experience issues with the Boomerang app, try uninstalling and reinstalling the application. This typically fixes most issues across any application. Note: be sure to delete any downloaded videos before uninstalling the Boomerang App.
- Navigate to 'Settings' on your device
- Locate and select 'Apps' or 'App Manager'
- You may see "App Manager" after selecting 'Apps'
- Find and select 'Boomerang'
- Tap 'Uninstall'
- Access Google Play, from your device or desktop computer
- If you're using your desktop computer, make sure you are logged into the same Google account that is tied to your device, this will allow you to install the application from your desktop computer
- Search for Boomerang Cartoons. It'll be a picture of Bugs and Scooby-Doo hanging out
- Tap 'Install'
- Reopen the Boomerang app, and login
Check to see if your device is running the latest version of Android:
- Locate and select 'Settings' on your device
- Locate and select 'System Updates'
- If you don't see 'System Updates' listed, check to see if 'Device' or 'About' is an option, if so select it to access 'System Updates'
- Select 'Check for updates'
- If any updates are found, consider installing them
- Note: While rare, some older devices may be unable to power new features contained within the update, and you may notice slower overall performance, and/or shorter batter life.
- Reopen the Boomerang app, and login
